The ones designed to protect our life are now becoming a threat to our life. Seat belts were introduced in the late 60’s as a primary safety device of an automobile. These belts have a thick strap that holds us back with the seat. The primary purpose of these safety belts is to prevent the dangerous head injury which would lead to loss of life. Thus to prevent that, car developers came with this innovative idea. But now due to the negligence of the manufactures of these seat belts, the whole purpose is wasted and it also causes injuries to people. Some of the seat belt defects include: inertial unlatching, improper latching leading to opening of the belt, failure of the retractor, poor geometry of the seat belt, etc. Surveys have proven that millions of automobiles on the road have defective seat belts.
